Description

Update: 12/28/11- Okay, based on the recent journal, the current version of Persephone Park is dead and will probably be restarted anew. During that time, I'll have to do a character revamp of Sevgi. She will still be a cheerful optimist, but I hope to develop her backstory a little bit more and I might submit her when the new incarnation of the RPG starts up. Fingers crossed.

My character for the :iconpersephone-park: RPG.

Sevgi Andrews

Occupation: Cellist/ teacher/unofficial representative for Istanbul China Works
Flower: Forget-Me-Nots
Nationality: Turkish-British
Age: 17
Height: 5’7”
Likes/Loves: Music (every type), calligraphy, gardening, long walks on warm days, a cup of tea or coffee after a performance or lesson, good conversation.
Dislikes: Tight, immodest clothing, sore wrists (aka Carpal Tunnel Syndrome), cold and rainy days, slurs against Turkey.

History: Sevgi was spoiled as a child. It was hard to not be when your father is one of the richest china merchants in the Ottoman Empire, so rich that he had to have three wives and seven children to share his wealth. Defying expectations, Sevgi still managed to grow up into a pleasant if naïve young lady in the lively and warm city of Istanbul. Her father took in visitors, especially one French man who introduced nine-year old Sevgi to the cello and the joys and pains of making music. Of course, her exposure to the outside world was not limited to that one person. Emily Andrews, a British secretary before becoming wife number two, often told her children and stepchildren of her homeland and, most vividly, the English roses blooming in the spring.

When she turned fifteen, Sevgi asked her father for permission to go to England. He naturally hesitated, his daughter fairly uninitiated with the workings of the world beyond Istanbul and the looming threat of war, but he agreed to let her go if she would complete a year of “English School”- namely, learning English etiquette, the language, and basic survival skills. Some time after turning sixteen, she left for England and was set up in an apartment in Liverpool. Her rosy impression of England did nothing to prepare her for some of the country’s less savory realities. She did not leave her apartment the first week for the cold weather she didn’t expect and forgot to lock her door when she finally went out and came back to an empty apartment. Were it not for her neighbors, a clerk and his wife, she would have not gotten back her beloved cello. Since then she has taken to teaching young boys to play the cello as well as performing at parties.

A devout Muslim and not a fan of the chilly English climate, Sevgi dresses modestly and keeps her head covered as well as taking time out to pray. She is very outgoing but romance is not a top priority (in fact, it is one of the few things that make her very uncomfortable) and while not stupid, she does blunder into situations that cannot be easily resolved with a cheerful and generous attitude.

Sevgi came to Persephone Park when the father of one of her students recommended her talents to Lady Airabella.
